A Butterfly Decor For Your Little Girl

If she loves chasing butterflies outside, it may inspire you to create a butterfly bedroom just for her. There are so many butterfly species and each one offers a different color and design. You can create a look for her that she will not easily get tired of. While butterflies are beautiful, you don't want to add to many butterfly items in her room or it will seem too distracting and busy.

You want to start at the ceiling. Paint the ceiling a solid color blue, green, pink, or yellow. Having a solid color on the ceiling can make it easier to blend in the rest of the decor. Once the ceiling is painted and dried, you can begin to hang some mobiles that you have made using butterfly pictures, coat hangers and some strings.

Walls

You need to also place a solid color on the walls but not the same color as your ceiling. You could place yellow on the ceiling to represent the sunshine or blue which can represent the sky. You can place green on the walls to represent the grass. Draw or stencil a few sunflowers standing tall in the grass and other pretty flowers that attract butterflies.

Bed

Place some short white yard fencing around the bed and place a gate that she can open when she gets up in the mornings. Weave a few strands of Christmas lights around the fence and place a few butterflies perched on the fence rails. Write on each fence stake a word of inspiration for her to read, for example "Hope," "Dream," "Believe."

Place a solid color bed comforter to complete the look. It can be done in pink or green to match the walls. Accent the bed with pink, yellow, blue, and green throw pillows. This will help blend in all the colors in her room.

Rugs

You will need to place one large rectangle area rug under her bed in the color of green for grass. You can place butterfly rugs on each side of her bed. Area rugs can be used even if you have carpeting down already.

Furniture

All furniture should be white in color and stenciled with butterflies. This will complete the look of her butterfly room.

If she shares a room with other siblings you can still create the look of butterflies but just make it more compact. Instead of painting the ceiling yellow or blue, paint it a neutral color so you can balance more than one theme in the room. Paint the walls on her side of the room as stated above. You can still place the white fence around her bed and paint her furniture white.

Creating a butterfly room is exciting and fun to do. It will make her happy for years to come. When the butterflies start to come down and her bedroom is empty when she moves out, you can send her fence with her to use in her new home on the walls, around the kitchen or in her new bedroom for inspiration and memories.
